Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge 2012-13 Series Rules

In order for the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge to be both challenging and equitable to all its participants, sponsors, and staff, there must be a few rules. The non-negotiable rules for the 2012-13 season are:

Series Options:

Two series options are offered again for the 2012-13 series.

Full Track – Runners must complete the full distance in all the six races. They are:

IBM Uptown Classic 10k, October 7, 2012

Gazelle Foundation Run For The Water 10 miles, October 28 2012

ARC Decker Challenge Half Marathon, December 9, 2012

3M Half Marathon, January 13, 2013

Rogue 30k, January 27, 2013

LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon & Half Marathon, February 17, 2013

 

Note: For the Decker Challenge, the Half Marathon will be considered the full distance. Runners who want to do the Double Decker marathon distance will have their fastest Half Marathon at Decker as the qualified time for the Distance Challenge awards, and rankings.


Half Track - Runners must complete the above distances in the first four races and will run the 10k distance at Rogue 30k/10k and the half marathon at the LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon & Half Marathon.

Registration:

Early Registration wilol be open from June 4 to August. 25, 2012.  Regular Registration will be open from August 25 to, October 6, 2011.  IBM Uptown Classic 10k participants ONLY will be allowed to register from October 7nd to October 26th.  Any registration after that time is at the discretion of the Managing Director.

 

The registration cost for the 2012-13 Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge is $50. This is separate from your race fee for each of the five races in the series. To participate in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge you must register for the Series online.

Early Registration will have a 10% discount.  ARC current members will get an additional 10% discount during Early and Regular Registration.

Race Registration Dates:
Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge runners are not guaranteed entry to any of the six races and must register through each of the race site’s website by each race's registration timing requirement.

Finishing Awards:
A.  Runners must finish each race and appear in the official results of each of the six races in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge.

B.  For runners who complete the entire series, a Finisher’s Jacket and Certification of Completion will be awarded. Overall, Masters and Age Group Awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in five year age groups will also be awarded, both male and female. This will apply to both the Full Track and Half Track challenges.

C.  Overall, Master and Age Group awards will be determined for each runner by the cumulative time of the five races. The lowest cumulative time determines final position in the series.

D.  Age group awards will be based on ages as of Feb. 17, 2013.

General Rules:
A.  Runners must enter each race in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge by registering for each race individually. Entry fees are determined by each race director in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge.  Participation in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge DOES NOT grant paid entry into any race.

B.  Substitutions for any of the events are NOT PERMITTED. Participants must register, run in, and complete each race within the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge on the designated race day.

C. In the event of a race postponement or rescheduling due to inclement weather, the runner must complete the event on the rescheduled date.

D.  An Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge VIP tent will be at the finish line of each race providing you with snacks and beverages. In this area post-race interviews may take place. Any inquires can be addressed here.

E.  If a runner misses a race they are out of the overall Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge competition, lose the finishers jacket, but can still attend the post-event party.

F.  All non ARC members will get a one year free individual membership in ARC, starting the date of their registration in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge.  Non member is defined as a runner not registered in ARC after July 2011.

G.  All results will be posted and updated on the website below.  All results will be final on March 7.  No changes will be made after that date.  It is the runner’s responsibility to communicate any questions, conflicts in the data or other results issues prior to that date.

H.  All disputes or exceptions for qualifications, award ranking, finishing qualification or related issues will be resolved at the discretion of the Managing Director.
