Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge 2011-12 Rules
In order for the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge to be both challenging and equitable to all its participants, sponsors, and staff, there must be a few rules. The non-negotiable rules for the 2011-’12 season are:
Series Options:
Two series options are offered again for the 2011-12 series.
Full Track – Runners must complete the full distance in all the five races. They are:
IBM Uptown Classic 10k, October 2, 2011
Gazelle Foundation Run For The Water 10 miles, October 30, 2011
ARC Decker Challenge Half Marathon, December 11, 2011
3M Half Marathon, January 29, 2012
Livestrong Austin Marathon & Half Marathon, February 19, 2012
Note: For the Decker Challenge, the Half Marathon will be considered the full distance. Runners who want to do the Double Decker marathon distance will have their fastest Half Marathon at Decker as the qualified time for the Distance Challenge awards, and rankings.
Half Track - Runners must complete the above distances in the first four races and will run the half marathon at the fifth race, the Livestrong Austin Marathon & Half Marathon.
Registration:
The last day to officially register for the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge is Friday, October 1, 2011. IBM Uptown 10k participants ONLY will be allowed to register from October 2nd to October 30th.
The registration cost for the 2011-12 Austin Fit magazine Distance Challenge is $50. This is separate from your race fee for each of the five races in the series.

Race Registration Dates:
Austin Fit magazine Distance Challenge runners are not guaranteed entry to each of the five races and must register through the race sites website by each race's timing requirement.
Finishing Awards:
A. Runners must finish each race and appear in the official results of each of the five races in the Austin Distance Challenge.
B. For runners who complete the entire series, a Finisher’s Jacket and Certification of Completion will be awarded. Overall, Masters and Age Group Awards (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in five year age groups will also be awarded, both male and female. This will apply to both the Full Marathon and Half Marathon challenges.
C. Overall, Master and Age Group awards will be determined for each runner by the cumulative time of the five races. The lowest cumulative time determines final position in the series.
D. Age group awards will be based on ages as of Feb. 19, 2012.
General Rules:
A. Runners must enter each race in the Austin Fit magazine Distance Challenge by registering for each race individually. Entry fees are determined by each race director in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge. Participation in the Distance Challenge DOES NOT grant paid entry into any race, however, your registration into the Distance Challenge does guarantee you a spot in each race (except the Livestrong Austin Marathon): See registration dates.
B. Substitutions for any of the events are NOT PERMITTED. Participants must register, run in, and complete each race within the Austin Distance Challenge on the designated race day.
C. In the event of a race postponement or rescheduling due to inclement weather, the runner must complete the event on the rescheduled date.
D. An Austin Distance Challenge VIP tent will be at the finish line of each race providing you with snacks and beverages. In this area post-race interviews may take place. Any inquires can be addressed here.
E. If a runner misses a race they are out of the overall Distance Challenge competition, lose the ADC finishers jacket, but can still attend the post-event party.
F. All non ARC members will get a one year free membership in ARC, starting the date of their registration in the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge.
