Well done to all the runners who competed in the Run For The Water race. A bit humid, but the rain held off. Next on the calendar is the Decker Challenge, a half marathon with hills and often challenging weather. Date is Sunday, December 8. If you are not registered, click on the Decker logo to the left.

The Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge is a series of six races starting in October 2013 with increasing distances leading up to the February 2014 Austin Marathon & Half Marathon. Participants sign up for the series (separate from signing up for each race) to compete against personal goals and for awards for Overall, Masters and Age Groups (M & F). Participants in the series receive special running gear, get special treatment at each race, enjoy a series-end celebration party and have a lot of fun.
There are 6 races in the 2013-2014 Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge:
IBM Uptown Classic 10k
Run For The Water 10 mile
Decker Challenge Half Marathon
3M Half Marathon
Rogue Distance Festival (30/10k distances)
Austin Marathon & Half Marathon
All registered participants will receive:
• A custom printed long sleeve tech running shirt.
• One Year FREE membership in ARC (non ARC members only-defined as not having been an active member since July 2011)
• Use of the Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge VIP tent found at the finish
area of each race. There will be beverages, special premiums and other fun
• Invitation to the Celebration Party in March.
All participants who complete the series will receive:
• A custom printed runners jacket
• A Completion Certificate
• Additionally, trophies will be presented for Overall, Masters and Age Groups in 5-year increments, both M and F. Trophies will be presented for both the Full and Half Track Series options.

Again this year all net proceeds of the series will be donated to The Trail Foundation. This worthwhile organization continually makes the trail around Lady Bird safer, more attractive and more functional. You should feel good that a portion of your registration goes to a group that benefits most runners.
