I see the ARC now has a great, free 5K training program for Spring 5Ks.  Awesome.  Any news on if or when the ARC Daisy 5K will take place?

I expect more info to materialize soon, but I heard today that the Daisy plan is for a Fun run on May 13th

well, at least that's an answer, after 4 separate postings of questions.  It's been held as a fun run before.  The first year I ever volunteered for ARC was as a course monitor at the Mopac bridge when they just ran the 4 mile loop from Runtex and called it Daisy.

Just hate to let the 35 year streak go.

ya know, there's nothing on the ARC website about Daisy.   Going right past Mother's Day, and zip.  Even if they hold it as a fun run, the club can still claim it as the oldest 5K in Austin.

finally, some press by Wish for Daisy, and it is just to note that NOTHING HAPPENED. That the current ARC Board let 3 and a half DECADES of history go right in the trash.  Let the title of the oldest 5K in Austin go to someone else.

The "mission" of the ARC, at the very, least minimum, is to put on two races a year, Decker and Daisy.  Decker pays for the club's year, and for Daisy, typically.

But this board threw this history right in the trash, along with the newsletter.  Among with other things.  Sad.

Megan brought up Daisy at the club meeting last week.  Not a lot of folks jumped to take the bait to make it happen (at least not live and in person).  ARC is a different beast from even just a few years ago...

yeah, well, I've put on Daisy nearly alone before.  When you get really close to the event, Board folks step up for registration, and ARC members come out of the woodwork for race day volunteering, but you can go months doing everything by yourself.

I know it shouldn't be that way, and it is a lot to ask of the Board and the President, and Daisy has never been really successful, all true.  But none of those reasonable excuses should have allowed a 35 year tradition to just fizzle away.

I see a whole lot more energy being spent on things that aren't ARC than on ARC.

Well, I've heard some good news from the new Prez.  Daisy is planning to be held at Camp Mabry next year (no date released yet).  That will save a lot of money for the little ARC non-profit club and make it possible to hold Daisy in Central Austin again.

Very exciting news!  Happy to see this race saved by the new Board.
