The Trail Foundation

The Trail Foundation, TTF, has supported Austin area runners, walkers and bikers since 2003.  Their mission is to enhance and protect the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail (formerly known as the Trail around Lady Bird Lake) through careful improvements to the Trail’s infrastructure and environment.

The Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge will donate the net proceeds of this year’s series to TTF, giving back to those from which we benefit.  Almost every runner uses the trail system and often we take it for granted.

Now you have a chance to help even further.  Here are three simple things you can do:

  • LEARN – visit the website to learn about current projects such as completing the Trail which includes a boardwalk extension that will eliminate crossing over IH-35.

  • APPRECIATE- next time you are on the trail, look at all the improvements that have happened in the last couple years.  For example, the current work at The Rock, the beatification done by the Pfluger Walking Bridge and other similar projects.

  • DONATE- you can donate directly to TTF or become a member. Both are great ways to support our running community.  Simply go to:   http://www.TheTrailFoundtion.org and click on Ways to Give under the Give button on the top right of the home page.

The Austin Fit Magazine Distance Challenge is proud of its relationship with The Trail Foundation and look forward to future years of support and involvement.
