3K Walk/Run for Sickle Cell will be held Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Lake Park. The address is 4550 Mueller Blvd., Austin, Texas.

Registration begins at 8:00am and the Walk/Run begins promptly at 9:00am. Registration can be made online at www.walkforsicklecell.org or in person the day of the event.

Registration Prices are as follows:

Individual Walkers ages 16 and up $25
team of 10 adults $225
team of 15 adults $447.50
teams of 20 adults $400
teams of 25 adults $468.75
Children ages 6-15 are $15 and children under 5 are free.

This Walk/Run will help to raise funds to send children suffering from Sickle Cell Disease to Camp Cell-A-Bration, which is a special needs camp exclusively for children suffering from this disease. Camp Cell-A-Bration will be held in August, and it sends almost 50 children from Texas to this week-long camp with companionship, horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts and a full medical staff. Expenses for Camp are $500 per child, yet our agency does not charge the children or their families as many of them are economically disadvantaged and on state assistance. Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder that attacks the red blood cells, many of our children have suffered strokes, chronic blood transfusions, pain crisis, jaundice and organ damage which will continue throughout their life. There is no cure and life expectancy is only to 40 years. Please Walk to make a difference in their lives today.

Camp Ben McCulloch is a non-profit organization. Proceeds will benefit the restoration of camp grounds.

The 5K course is USAT/RFTC certified, and chip-timed.

All participants are guaranteed a tshirt with entry.
